Acorus gramineus varigated

This plant needs a bit more light than the other green Acorus species, as varigated plants have less green leaf area to photosynthesize with. This is because the white or cream areas of the leaves do not contain chlorophyll. The varigated Acorus is slightly more difficult to maintain and seems to need a fairly fine substrate to grow in (clay rich in iron seems to help). Although used a lot in aquariums I find it does a lot better grown emersed so is better used as a temporary aquarium plant or rather in the shallows of a pond
