Alternanthera sessillis

Alternanthera sessillis (family Amaranthaceae) is a very dark maroon coloured plant. It is a very fast growing plant in warm conditions but is very prone to rotting in conditions that are not ideal. It can be propagated easily from cuttings and from seed. But will not grow well if there is not enough light (it can take full sunlight here South Africa) and will grow lanky and weak. Alternanthera grows best at high temperatures (30 ºC ).
